Typical values are indicative of current production and are not a specification. Batch certificates of analysis are available on request. OEM references indicate the performance requirements each product is formulated to meet; always confirm the grade and specification against the vehicle handbook or service schedule before use.
Technical & safety data sheets
Technical data sheets set out the typical properties and performance levels of each product. Safety data sheets are supplied in line with our obligations under UK REACH and the CLP Regulation.
Frequently asked questions
What does low SAPS actually mean?
SAPS stands for sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur. These additive elements leave residues that block diesel particulate filters and poison catalysts over time. Low and mid SAPS oils limit them, so the aftertreatment system lasts as long as it was designed to. All three Obsidian grades are low SAPS.
Can I use a C3 oil where the manufacturer specifies C2?
Generally yes. C3 sets a higher minimum high-temperature viscosity (HTHS) than C2, so a C3 oil gives at least the same film strength. Some fuel-economy engines are designed around C2's lower viscosity, so always follow the handbook. Our 5W-30 and 0W-30 grades are formulated to meet both.
Is Longlife 5W-30 interchangeable with the standard 5W-30?
Not in every case. Longlife is formulated for VW 504 00 / 507 00 and extended, variable drain intervals. Where a VW Group vehicle is on a LongLife schedule, use Longlife. For most other applications the standard 5W-30 C2/C3 is the correct fill.
What are your lead times and delivery terms?
Stocked grades are normally dispatched within one to two working days from UK stock. Delivery terms are set out in our delivery and returns page and confirmed on your account.
Do you supply on credit terms?
Yes, to established trade customers once an account application has been approved. New accounts usually start on pro-forma terms.
How should the product be stored?
Store under cover between 0 °C and 40 °C, away from direct sunlight and sources of ignition. Keep containers sealed when not in use, and store barrels on their side or covered so water cannot collect on the lid.
Ready to price it up?
Tell us the grades and volumes you turn over in a typical month and we will come back with your account pricing, usually the same working day.
