Technical FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What does low SAPS actually mean?
SAPS stands for sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur. A low SAPS oil contains reduced levels of these components, which limits the ash deposits that would otherwise block a diesel particulate filter and shorten the life of the catalyst. It is a requirement on most modern vehicles fitted with exhaust aftertreatment.
Can I use a C3 oil where the manufacturer specifies C2?
Not automatically. C2 and C3 differ in their high temperature, high shear viscosity requirements, and some engines are built around one or the other. Always check the vehicle manufacturer's servicing schedule and use the grade it specifies. Where you are unsure, contact us with the vehicle details before filling.
Is Longlife 5W-30 interchangeable with the standard 5W-30?
They are formulated for different service regimes. Longlife oils are intended for vehicles running variable or extended intervals and should not be substituted for a fixed-interval fill, or the reverse, without checking the manufacturer's requirement first.
What are your lead times and delivery terms?
Stock is held in the United Kingdom, so orders are typically despatched within a few working days. Delivery charges depend on order value, pack size and location, and are confirmed in writing on your quotation before you order.
Do you supply on credit terms?
Credit terms are available to established trade accounts, subject to references and the usual checks. New accounts ordinarily start on a pro-forma basis and move to terms once trading is established.
How should the product be stored?
Store containers upright, sealed, under cover and away from direct heat or sunlight. Keep barrels off the ground and clear of standing water to avoid contamination around the bung. Full storage and handling guidance is set out in the safety data sheet.
